West Kenneth Long Barrow in Marlborough, Wiltshire UK. One of the largest chambered tombs in Southern England. The burial mountain dates back about 5500 years.. Very impressive
The Sanctuary
Next stop.. The Sanctuary in Avebury. Originally a circular arrangement of timber posts.. Now replaced by stones. Huge numbers of human bones were found here accompanied by food remains suggesting elaborate death rites and ceremonies.. But its true function remains a mystery.. btw I love how the Sun came through the clouds when we were there !
